Retaining rings in accordance with DIN 471 made from spring steel prevent axial withdrawal on shafts and bolts with groove. They come in different sizes for shaft diameters ranging from 4 mm to 50 mm in steel or stainless steel. These retainers can be mounted with mounting pliers. They can be removed.
